Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) are typically elastic materials with a low modulus of elasticity that can be repeatedly stretched to more than twice their original length at room temperature and have the ability to recover almost completely to their original length after stress relief. An early material with this property was thermoset rubber, but many families of injection mouldable thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) are replacing traditional rubber. As well as being used in their basic form, TPEs are widely used for modification of rigid thermoplastics, usually for improved impact strength. This is quite common for sheet and general moulding grade composites.
Thermoplastic elastomer TPE is a rubber with high elasticity, high strength, high resilience, but also has the characteristics of injection moulding processing, environmental protection and non-toxic safety, wide range of hardness, excellent colouring, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature resistance, processing performance is superior, no need for vulcanisation, can be recycled to reduce the cost of both the secondary injection moulding, and PP, PE, PC, PS, ABS and other base materials, or can be individually moulded.

Extrusion casting process is: the solution of thermoplastics or thermosetting plastics prepolymer sol coated in the peelable carrier, after an oven heating and drying, and then melt and plasticise into a film layer cooled down, peeled off from the carrier on the surface of the roll and into a film. The carrier can be a steel roll, silicone rubber coated release paper or a roller.
Solvent cast film has the following characteristics:
(1) The thickness of the film can be very small, generally in the range of 5-8 UM, and films using mercury as a carrier, called molecular films, can be as low as 3 UM thick.
(2) The film's high transparency and low internal stress, most of which are used in occasions where optical properties are required to be very high, such as: film reel, the intermediate interlayer film of safety glass, and so on.
(3) The film thickness uniformity is good, not easy to mix into the impurities, film quality is good.
(4) Solvent cast film is not fully plasticised and extruded, the distance between molecules is large, the structure is relatively loose, the strength of the film is low.
(5) High production cost, high energy consumption, large amount of solvent, low production speed.
