1. TPU
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer) is a new type of plastic. Because TPU has good processability, weather resistance, and environmental protection, it is widely used in shoe materials, pipes, films, rollers, cables and wires and other related industries. Polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer, also known as thermoplastic polyurethane rubber, or TPU for short, is an (AB) n-type block linear polymer, A is a high molecular weight (1000-6000) polyester or polyether, and B contains 2-12 straight For the diols of chain carbon atoms, the chemical structure between the AB segments is connected with diisocyanate, usually MDI. The general structural formula is shown in the figure. Thermoplastic polyurethane rubber is cross-linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonds or lightly cross-linked between macromolecular chains. As the temperature increases or decreases, these two cross-linked structures are reversible. In the molten state or the solution state, the intermolecular force is weakened, and after cooling or solvent volatilization, there is a strong intermolecular force to connect, restoring the original solid properties.

Polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer has two types, polyester type, and polyether type, white random spherical or columnar particles, relative density 1.10-1.25, the relative density of polyether type is lower than polyester type. The glass transition temperature of the polyether type is 100.6-106.1¡ãC, and the glass transition temperature of the polyester type is 108.9-122.8¡ãC. The polyester type's brittleness temperature is lower than -62¡æ, and the low-temperature resistance of hard ether type is worse than that of the polyester type.
The outstanding characteristics of polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer are excellent wear resistance, excellent ozone resistance, high hardness, high strength, good elasticity, low-temperature resistance, good oil resistance, chemical resistance, and environmental resistance. Polyether in humid environments The hydrolytic stability of type ester far exceeds that of polyester type.
Polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer is non-toxic and tasteless, soluble in solvents such as methyl ethyl, cyclohexanone, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, dimethylformamide, etc., and also soluble in toluene, ethyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, acetone, etc. The mixed solvent of the proportion of composition presents a colorless and transparent state and has good storage stability.


2. PU

PU polyurethane is a general term for polymer compounds formed by the reaction of diisocyanate or polyisocyanate with compounds with more than two hydroxyl groups. The main chain contains many repeating NHCOO groups. Commonly used diisocyanates are toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), di-cyclohexyl methane diisocyanate (HMDI), poly Methyl polyphenyl polyisocyanate (PAPI), xylylene diisocyanate (XDI), etc. The different hydroxyl components used can be divided into two types: polyester type and polyether type. It can be used to manufacture plastic products, wear-resistant synthetic rubber products, synthetic fibers, rigid and soft foamed plastic products, adhesives, and coatings.

3.The difference between TPU and PU
TPU and PU are essentially composed of the same material. But when making these two compounds. The formula they use is not the same. These two kinds of rubber materials are divided into many kinds of properties.
The properties of rubber compounds made with different formulas are not the same. These characteristics refer to mechanical characteristics and physical characteristics.

  • 4. Good processing performance: TPU can be processed by common thermoplastic material processing methods, such as injection molding, extrusion, calendering, and so on. At the same time, TPU and certain polymer materials can be processed together to obtain polymer alloys with complementary properties.
