1. Main Characteristics of PVC Heat-Shrinkable Film

The primary features of PVC heat-shrinkable film include high transparency and gloss, which provide excellent display effects for packaged goods and superior printing performance. As a result, products wrapped in PVC heat-shrinkable film have an advertising effect that attracts customers. It also has a low shrinkage temperature, capable of completing shrink packaging below 100°C. This low-temperature shrinkage not only saves energy during packaging but also enables it to be used for items that cannot withstand high temperatures. Additionally, PVC heat-shrinkable film offers the advantage of lower cost and better economy, enhancing its competitiveness against other packaging materials. However, with the development and application of polyolefin heat-shrinkable films (POFCs) in recent years, the importance of PVC heat-shrinkable film has shown a downward trend.

2. Applications of PVC Heat-Shrinkable Film

Compared with the widely used PE heat-shrinkable film in the packaging field, PVC heat-shrinkable film provides an excellent display effect for goods, making it widely used in sales packaging for various products, including daily necessities, small home appliances, toys, textile products, food, and pharmaceuticals. It also has certain expansion potential in industrial packaging. For example, rust-proof PVC heat-shrinkable film is used to package metal products, significantly extending their rust-proof period: iron blocks wrapped in rust-proof PVC heat-shrinkable film remain completely rust-free after 24 hours of treatment at 49°C and 95% relative humidity.

A particularly notable application of PVC heat-shrinkable film is in labeling for bottled goods. PVC heat-shrinkable labels offer comprehensive advantages over traditional paper labels, including aesthetic appeal, ease of use, high reliability, and low cost. Although their environmental compatibility is not yet ideal and needs further improvement, they are currently widely used for labeling bottle-based products. Whether for beverages, edible oils, condiments, snacks, pharmaceuticals, or daily chemical products—regardless of whether the containers are made of metal, glass, or plastics like polyester (PET), polyethylene (PE), or polypropylene (PP)—PVC heat-shrinkable labels are universally applicable. In China, due to the limited development and application of heat-shrinkable labels made from other plastics, PVC heat-shrinkable labels hold extremely important significance and dominate the labeling market for bottled products.
